about

Gladness is a song about finding a pocket of calm in a world that doesn't always allow for that and recognising the importance of doing so. It was inspired by a lot of things - things happen to us all, the people that help us, but also by a few long walks taken by principal songwriter Matt.

lyrics

Waited there. Caught my breath.
Did not underestimate the power of calm.
Made haste. But tried not to rush my step.
Did not underestimate the power of calm.

You give me silence, I didn't know that I needed before
You give me solace, less when I need no more.
Looking for stillness, from a mind that can wander too free.
Hoping for gladness, sometimes it's enough just to be.

Journey's end. Found that space.
Did not underestimate the power of calm.
Holed up. But tried not to crane my neck.
I did not need to see.

You give me silence, I didn't know that I needed before
You give me solace, less when I need no more.
Looking for stillness, from a mind that can wander too free.
Hoping for gladness, sometimes it's enough just to be.

Looking for stillness. Hoping for gladness.

You give me silence, darkness when there's too much light.
You bring me solace, warmth on the coldest of nights.
Looking for stillness, from a mind that refuses to rest.
Hoping for gladness, sometimes winning doesn't mean you're the best.
